Toronto Maple Leafs forward Calle Jarnkrok was not incredibly productive last season with the franchise, and throughout the summer, he was subjected to trade rumors.

Seven points in 19 games is nothing to write home about. One point in 12 playoff games is truly pitiful. These are the stats of Calle Jarnkrok from last season.
He started the year with a sports hernia that kept him out of the lineup for months. When he returned, he was decent enough for a bottom-sixer. Unfortunately, his drop-off coincided with the postseason, and it led to lots of frustration.
Throughout the summer, the Maple Leafs tried to rectify the situation by shopping Jarnkrok around. This would save money and cut down on the team's depth, which has begun to overflow.
Now, the regular season is just a couple of weeks away, and Jarnkrok remains on the team, despite the Leafs' best efforts.

Toronto Maple Leafs try to trade Calle Jarnkrok

According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Maple Leafs were unable to trade Jarnkrok for one simple reason. No one wants him.
Calle Jarnkrok...he was in discussions all summer, [the Leafs] tried trading him, they had discussions with other teams, obviously that didn't work out; we'll see kind of where that goes
This is not a good situation for the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are trying to save some money so they can go out and get themselves a top-line guy.
While the roster is very solid right now, there is still some fat left to trim, and a Jarnkrok trade would help out a ton right about now.
If a trade does not happen, the team will either have to resort to waivers or, worse, a buyout.
Whatever happens, it seems pretty cut and dry at this stage that Jarnkrok doesn't have much time left with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
