Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood is going on the trade block incredibly soon, and there is no denying that the Toronto Maple Leafs could use him.
Despite a tough season for the Vancouver Canucks, Kiefer Sherwood has been extremely solid with 17 goals and 23 points in 44 games.
That said, the forward has been named in all sorts of trade discussions, and it really does feel like the Canucks are keen on trading him.
There are all kinds of teams out there who would love Sherwood on their roster. The Toronto Maple Leafs are certainly one of them.
They have been looking for top-six talent, and Sherwood is a guy that can play on a top line while giving you some solid production.

According to Rick Dhaliwal, the Leafs have been one of the teams keeping tabs on Sherwood. Unfortunately, there is one major problem.
At this moment in time, the Leafs just don't have the assets to make a deal possible. As a result, they are likely doomed to let Sherwood go elsewhere.
Maple Leafs like him but they don't have the assets
This has been the key challenge for general manager Brad Treliving. The Leafs have been contenders for so long that they have sold all of their draft capital.
Trading for roster players has become too difficult, and the Maple Leafs are starting to learn this the hard way, much to the chagrin of fans.
With the soft trade deadline of the Olympic break coming up, it will be fascinating to see what the Maple Leafs end up doing next.
