Calgary Flames trade Rasmus Andersson amid Toronto Maple Leafs rumors

The Toronto Maple Leafs have wanted Rasmus Andersson since the Summer, and they have been working hard to bring him in.

However, in recent weeks, it has been said that the Leafs were out on the defenseman. Instead, the Boston Bruins and Las Vegas Golden Knights were the most likely teams.

Just moments ago, it was revealed by Darren Dreger that the Golden Knights would be the ones to get Andersson on the roster.

Andersson will not be getting a contract extension upon this deal, although he will be open to one beyond this season.

Meanwhile, the return is pretty steep, with the Calgary Flames retaining 50 percent of Andersson's salary. Aside from Quinn Hughes, this is one of the biggest trades of the season.

This is all bad news for the Maple Leafs, who are in need of a right-handed defenseman and have been hoping to get Andersson on the roster.

In the end, Mitch Marner gets even more revenge on the Toronto Maple Leafs, as he now gets to play with Andersson.

The Golden Knights are obvious Stanley Cup favorites right now, and we're sure the Maple Leafs aren't feeling great about things.

Only time will tell whether or not this is a trade that works out for this Pacific Division contender.
