Cayden Primeau Claimed Off Waivers After Disappointing Stint with the Maple Leafs

Cayden Primeau's time with the Toronto Maple Leafs wasn't great. Sure, he had two wins and one loss, but for the most part, he was shaky at best.

Just yesterday, the goaltender was placed on waivers as the team made way for goaltender Joseph Woll. Today, Primeau was claimed.

In fact, Primeay was (re)claimed by the Carolina Hurricanes, who put him on waivers just weeks ago. It is a poetic end to the saga, and one that Leafs fans are happy to be done with.

This weekend, the Toronto Maple Leafs will have Dennis Hildeby as their backup, with Joseph Woll down with the Toronto Marlies.

Woll's demotion is simply part of a conditioning stint that will hopefully get Woll game-ready for when he does return to the Leafs.

Meanwhile, Primeau will likely be the backup with the Carolina Hurricanes for a while, although it remains to be seen how that works out.

With Primeau moving on, the Maple Leafs now have their goaltending situation in check, as they will have both Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll available for the upcoming week.

This will allow Stolarz to get some time off, as he has had to carry the workload throughout the early portion of the season.

If one thing is for certain here, it is that the Maple Leafs are a lot better when their tandem is fully healthy.

Regardless, we do wish Primeau all the best as he goes to Carolina.
