Darren Dreger reveals whether or not the Maple Leafs are firing Craig Berube today

With the Toronto Maple Leafs struggling to get any momentum going this season, there has been all sorts of speculation that the team will fire head coach Craig Berube.

Recently, the team went on a three-game road trip, and they were unable to pick up a single point during this time frame. They got blown out by the Washington Capitals and Dallas Stars, while losing in a close one to the Nashville Predators.

The Leafs are currently dead last in the Atlantic Division, and it really does feel as though Berube's future with the Leafs hangs in the balance.

There has even been some speculation that the Leafs would fire Berube today as the team prepares for a home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday.

Darren Dreger was on TSN 1050's 'First Up' this morning, where he was asked directly about the Berube situation and whether or not a firing is in the cards.

According to the TSN insider, a firing is very unlikely at this point, at least not yet. The sense is that Berube will be keeping his job through the Holidays.

Of course, some things could change very soon. After all, the players themselves look like they have no interest in playing the coach's system right about now.

It has been almost impossible for the Maple Leafs to get anything going, and we are reaching a point where you cannot help but pity the Leafs.

With a record of 15-15-5, this team is nowhere near a playoff spot. Sure, the Atlantic Division is tight right now, but if you're not winning games, it simply does not matter.

For now, the fans are just going to have to pray for a miracle. It's the only thing that might actually help turn this season around in the right direction.
