The Edmonton Oilers are a team in desperate need of goaltending, and despite the Toronto Maple Leafs having what they need, the Oilers went elsewhere.

Ever since the Edmonton Oilers started appearing in the Stanley Cup Finals, it has become apparent that the team just doesn't have what it takes to win it all.
A big issue with the franchise has been the team's lack of goaltending. Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard have not been holding up their end of the bargain, and something needs to change.
During the Summer, there were some rumblings that the Maple Leafs could trade Anthony Stolarz to the Oilers and get quite a bit in return for him.
Just a couple of weeks ago, something similar was said about Joseph Woll. With two starting goalies on their team, the Leafs would have been the perfect franchise for the Oilers to do business with.
However, today, the Oilers decided to go in a different direction. According to Pierre LeBrun, the Oilers have chosen to acquire Tristan Jarry from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Jarry was pretty bad last season and even found himself on waivers, which led to speculation that he might be completely done in the NHL.

Tristan Jarry's comeback season goes to Edmonton

In 14 starts this season, Jarry has nine wins, a shutout, a goals-against average of 2.66, and a save percentage of .909. Needless to say, he is playing a lot better.
It will be interesting to see how this affects the Oilers going forward. Jarry is also being traded for Stuart Skinner, which means Oilers fans no longer have to deal with his mediocre play.
For Pittsburgh Penguins fans, this one might be a hard pill to swallow, seeing as though Skinner is not a guy you can really win a Cup with.
This is going to be an interesting trade, and it will take a while before we can truly declare who the winner is.
