Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has big decisions to make, and according to Elliotte Friedman, things are getting extremely sketchy.
Brad Treliving is easily one of the most scrutinized general managers in the National Hockey League, and for good reason, considering his team is playing horribly right now.
The Maple Leafs remain 10 points out of a playoff spot, and it doesn't look like this team will end up in the postseason at this rate.
Having said that, the Toronto Maple Leafs do have some options going into the trade deadline. The Olympic break is upon them, and Treliving is tasked with making moves.
According to Elliotte Friedman, the Leafs are about to have a fire sale of sorts, and it could end up getting ugly.
Elliotte Friedman reveals the Toronto Maple Leafs' next move
Essentially, on "32 Thoughts," the insider noted that the Leafs probably won't make a move before the Olympic break.
However, they are going to put numerous players on the market to see what they can get in return. This should raise the eyebrows of Leafs fans everywhere.
At the end of the day, the Maple Leafs are in a tough predicament, and with very few games left, it is clear that this team is not making the postseason, unless a miracle happens.
Until then, the Leafs are going to have to figure out what they want to be. For now, being a contender just isn't possible.
We would hate to be Brad Treliving right now, as he is very clearly going through a difficult time trying to make good for this team.
Only time will tell whether or not he figures it out, or ultimately loses the plot some more. Either way, we will be paying attention.
