Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has Derek Lalonde and Marc Savard on his coaching staff, although there is always room for one more.

The Toronto Maple Leafs coaching staff has had a ton of scrutiny this past year, thanks to some questionable decisions from head coach Craig Berube.
There have been times this season when he has completely dropped the ball when motivating his players. Meanwhile, his assistants, Marc Savard and Derek Lalonde, haven't always contributed to the success of the team.
Lalonde is in charge defensively, where the team has struggled at 5-on-5 and on the penalty kill. Meanwhile, Savard's struggles with the power play date back to last year.
Nick Alberga of Leafs Morning Take suggests another coach is necessary, and Jeff Marek of The Sheet appears to agree with that take.

Could Bruce Boudreau coach on the Maple Leafs?

In fact, Marek seems to have the perfect name in mind for the Leafs coaching staff. That name is none other than former NHL head coach Bruce Boudreau.
As Marek explains, Boudreau wants to be a head coach, but for the Leafs, he is willing to take a demotion and be an assistant.
Bruce Boudreau has always wanted to, and still does, want to be a head coach in the NHL. He sees himself as a head coach, he's had success at every single level, and has won every single championship that he could, except for the Stanley Cup. The only team, he has always said this, that he would work as an assistant for is the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Boudreau was a great offensive head coach, so it only makes sense that Marek would suggest him as someone who could fix the Leafs' power play.
Boudreau is also someone who has a great vibe, and his players love him. As a result, he is a no-brainer to join the coaching staff if Berube wants him.
For now, however, this will simply remain as one of those things that you think about, but only in passing, as it probably won't happen anytime soon.
