The NHL fraternity is in mourning today following the death of Paul Gagne, a former first-round pick who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs and New Jersey Devils.
Some sad news is coming out of the NHL today, as former player Paul Gagne has passed away at the age of 63.
Gagne was a first-round draft pick of the Colorado Rockies, a team he spent two seasons with in the early 1980s.
Gagne would then go on to play for the New Jersey Devils for a few years, before going to the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 1988-89 season. He played 16 games with the team.

Despite this brief stint with the Leafs, they still took the time to honor Gagne and his life on social media.
We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Paul Gagne. Paul played 16 games with the @MapleLeafs during the 1988-89 NHL season. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
Following his time in Toronto, Gagne went to the New York Islanders, before going overseas to play in Switzerland for a decade.
This was highlighted by NHL alumni, who spoke glowingly about Gagne and his accomplishments.
Paul also proudly ran his own hockey development camp in Timmins, Ontario. When the Hockey North Hall of Fame was established earlier this year, Paul was honoured as one of the inaugural inductees.
We send our heartfelt condolences to Paul's family, friends, and former teammates during this incredibly difficult time.
