How Effective has Tom Wilson been for Team Canada?

Wilson already has the most minutes in Team Canada Olympic history, but his presence is what allows for McDavid and Celebrini to play carefree.

In only three games Wilson has managed to accumulate the most penalty minutes by any Canadian Olympian ever. And this shouldn't be a surprise, as he does the same thing on the Washington Capitals, but his penalty minutes are not always negative, Wilson sets the tone and there have been countless times where he delivers a huge hit that alters the course of the game.

Not only does he bring the intimidation factor, he is also a point a game so far this tournament. Which is exactly what he has this season 49 points in 50 games, en route to his first 40 goal season of his career. At 31 years of age, he has gotten better the older he gets. And his physicality makes him a nightmare to play against. Not only does it help the Capitals, but it'll be a lot of fun to see him go up against Team USA if they do end up meeting down the road of this tournament. McDavid is well on his way to breaking the scoring record in the Olympics, and Wilson deserves a lot of credit for creating so much space for him.
