Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Kampf has reached a final solution with the franchise, and moments ago, the forward's fate was finally sealed.

Yesterday, David Kampf was officially put on waivers for the purposes of having his contract terminated by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
This was a mutual decision through and through, although there has been lots of talk about what will happen next, and who Kampf might end up signing with in the future.
Overall, Kampf can provide center depth to a team in need, and it is expected that he will have teams like the Vancouver Canucks and Montreal Canadiens calling his phone.

David Kampf clears waivers

The 2 PM deadline for waivers just passed, and Kampf was not claimed by any teams. As a result, his contract with the Leafs is officially terminated, and he can do whatever he wants.
Overall, it is a move that should not be all that surprising. Why would a team claim Kampf if they could just sign him for cheaper once he clears?
That said, the sweepstakes will now officially begin, and the forward can finally move on with his career and go somewhere that actually needs him and wants him.
If you are a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, you shouldn't be too devastated about Kampf's departure, even if it would have been nice for things to work out.
At the end of the day, the Maple Leafs needed to get their roster under control, especially with cap space being a huge necessity for them, moving forward.
Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs are currently dealing with a bad situation as they have lost four games in a row, and it feels like nothing is going their way.
Only time will tell whether or not they can turn things around and get back in the win column.
