Las Vegas Golden Knights forward Mitch Marner has struggled to start the season, and now, the fans are understanding what the Toronto Maple Leafs went through.

Mitch Marner left the Toronto Maple Leafs this past summer because he felt as though the media and fans in Toronto were just too much to handle.
Overall, there is a lot of resentment about his departure. The Maple Leafs have not been good in Marner's absence. On the flip side of that, it's not like the Golden Knights are thriving with Mitch on their side.
The Knights have a record of 10-5-8, while Marner is on pace for his lowest points totals in almost a full decade. He's struggling, and in some cases, those struggles have led to bad losses.
Sure, Leafs fans can be brutal. But when it comes to Golden Knights fans, they are expecting a Stanley Cup, and with that comes a whole lot of anger when the on-ice product doesn't meet the moment.

Las Vegas Golden Knights fans are mad at Mitch Marner

As you can see in the screenshots below, numerous Golden Knights fans are turning on Marner. They feel as though he is an assist merchant, who can't score to save his life.
Marner has had a few misses in the shootout this season, and these errors are starting to finally take their toll in a very visceral way.
Unfortunately, for both sides, this could get ugly very fast if there isn't an improvement. Of course, it is too early to be talking like this, but the quick change of heart from Golden Knights fans is tough to watch.

Mitch Marner's contract in the spotlight

Marner is under contract with the Golden Knights for a total of eight years. His total deal is worth $96 million, which means he makes $12 million per season.
This is a lot of money, and we're sure the Golden Knights would love to get a reasonable production from their superstar, who has proven he can get 100 points in a season.
The expectations are to win a championship. If Marner continues to play like this, a championship is not going to happen. It's as simple as that.
