Las Vegas Golden Knights forward Mitch Marner is returning to Toronto on Friday, and there is no doubt that Maple Leafs fans are excited about it.
Toronto Maple Leafs fans have been circling January 23rd on their calendars for a while now, as it signals Mitch Marner's return to Toronto.
Now, he is a member of the Las Vegas Golden Knights, and there are plenty of Leafs fans who hate Marner with a passion these days.
After a loss to the Detroit Red Wings last night, the Leafs need to get a win, and the Golden Knights are going to pose a very difficult challenge.
That said, the Leafs players are anticipating Marner's arrival, and some of the guys on the team have no clue what they are about to get into.
Joseph Woll on Mitch Marner
One of those players is Joseph Woll, who spoke about Marner after last night's game, and his comments are making noise.
Woll is demanding that the Leafs fans show him some respect. Given everything that has transpired, it is very doubtful this will be the case.
I would hope it's a warm welcome.... It's unfortunate he's not with our group anymore. I think hockey is a place of respect, and I hope that the fans pay him respect.
Ultimately, the Toronto Maple Leafs fanbase is not that forgiving, and the expectation is that there will be an array of boos.
We might even see some jerseys thrown onto the ice, which is the opposite of respect. Some may find this in poor taste, but it is what it is.
At the end of the day, the Leafs fans are extremely passionate, and they are going to make their voices heard, regardless of what Woll has to say.
