Latest update on Oliver Ekman-Larsson is disastrous for the Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson got injured against the Detroit Red Wings, and things have gone from bad to worse.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson has been the best defenseman for the Toronto Maple Leafs this season, although he has also dealt with injuries.
In fact, most of the Leafs' best players have missed time due to injuries this season, and it has become a major problem.
The fans are starting to grow increasingly worried, and it feels as though a reckoning is coming, especially as the playoffs get closer and closer.
On Wednesday, Ekman-Larsson got injured against the Detroit Red Wings, and it ultimately forced him out of the game, only to never return.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson to miss some time
Now, according to Chris Johnston, OEL is, indeed, expected to miss some valuable time for the Maple Leafs, which is a disastrous turn of events.
If you are a fan of the Leafs, this is a disaster that you were certainly hoping to avoid, but you won't be able to.
What makes it even worse is the fact that the Leafs are playing the Las Vegas Golden Knights on Friday, with Mitch Marner coming back.
The Golden Knights will be motivated to go out and get a win, which puts the Leafs in a bad position. Ultimately, some defensive call-ups will be made.
This is all happening while the Leafs attempt to snag a Wild Card playoff spot, which is becoming more and more difficult by the day.
Clearly, the injuries have taken their toll, and OEL going out is only making the issue worse.
