Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll is dealing with an injury, and moments ago, the Maple Leafs were forced to make an extremely difficult decision.
After suffering an injury against the Carolina Hurricanes, there were some concerns surrounding Joseph Woll and whether or not he would be able to continue playing.
It was clear that Dennis Hildeby would be the starter against the Montreal Canadiens, although with the Tampa Bay Lightning coming up on Monday, there was some hope that Woll could return.
For now, Woll's lower-body injury does not have a prognosis. At this stage, we have no clue how long he is going to be out of the lineup for.
However, with Anthony Stolarz also dealing with an injury, and showing no signs of improvement, it is easy to see why the Leafs would be concerned.
Maple Leafs take on the Canadiens tonight
Tonight, the Toronto Maple Leafs are playing the Montreal Canadiens, and as we explained earlier, Dennis Hildeby is going to be the starter.
On Monday night, the Leafs take on the Lightning, and we imagine that Hildeby is going to have to play in that game as well.
If you are a Leafs fan, this situation with Woll is a worst-case scenario, and it's hard to imagine things going well for the Leafs from here on out.
Whether or not this forces the Leafs to go out and make some kind of goalie trade, still remains to be seen, although it might prove to be a necessity.
