Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll got injured against the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night, and there is a ton of concern about what's next.
Joseph Woll has been one of the best goaltenders in the NHL ever since returning from his leave of absence roughly three weeks ago.
He has played eight games, amassing four wins and a goals-against average of 2.44 with a save percentage of .928.
These are great numbers, and Woll has helped the Maple Leafs remain competitive in a world where the team is trying to claw its way back into a playoff spot.
In the aftermath of the injury, fans were confused about how it happened and when it happened. Additionally, head coach Craig Berube was unable to put a timeline on his return.
Now, thanks to TicTacTOmar on X, we have footage of the exact moment Woll suffered his injury. While stretching to make a save, he pulled something and was in clear discomfort.
At the end of the clip, Woll can be seen stretching out his leg in an attempt to fix whatever he may have been feeling. He was able to last until the end of the period, but then came out of the game.
This footage is actually good news for Joseph Woll and the Maple Leafs. Woll didn't appear to be in pain, and he was able to continue for a few minutes.
Overall, it suggests that Woll took himself out of the game out of an abundance of caution, and that a few days off will get him right.
Hopefully, the best case scenario plays out, and the Leafs aren't forced to make an ill-advised call up.
