Toronto Maple Leafs forwards Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies have been out of the lineup, and the fans are starting to wonder when they will play again.

If there is one thing for certain about the Toronto Maple Leafs, it is that Matthew Knies and Auston Matthews are two of the best players on the team.
Now that Mitch Marner is gone, both of these star forwards need each other more than ever before. Unfortunately, they are both injured and have missed the last few games for the Leafs.
The Leafs continue to lose in their absence, and with the team falling to last place in the Eastern Conference, there is no denying that this team is more desperate than ever before.
Face it, the Maple Leafs need some good news, and the first step would be getting some positive updates on Knies and Matthews.

Auston Matthews & Matthew Knies injury updates

At practice today, Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube delivered an update on his injured forwards, as both took to the ice.
Simply put, they are getting better and are progressing every day. Unfortunately, Berube cannot confirm whether or not they will be able to play.
The best news of the day actually came in the form of defenseman Jake McCabe, who is reportedly going to play on Wednesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, after taking a puck to the face on Saturday.

Toronto Maple Leafs injuries are no joke

On top of Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies, the Leafs are also facing injury issues affecting guys like Brandon Carlo, Chris Tanev, Nicolas Roy, and Anthony Stolarz.
It just so happens that all of the injuries are happening to the most important guys on the team. The Leafs' luck has been terrible, and it's a huge contributor to the struggles.
Having said that, once all of these guys come back, then there is a realistic world in which the Leafs start stringing wins together, and even get back in a playoff position.
