Toronto Maple Leafs forward Scott Laughton is officially injured, and as a result, the team needs a replacement on the fourth line who can fit the NHL's standards.

This morning, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced some bad news as Scott Laughton will have to miss a few weeks with a lower-body injury.
Overall, this was an unexpected development. Laughton got injured against the Detroit Red Wings last night, and now, the team is without a fourth-line center.
Laughton was building real chemistry with Steven Lorentz and Easton Cowan, although for now, this chemistry will have to be put on pause.
Instead, the Leafs now have to pull from their pool of fifth-liners who have been patiently waiting for any sort of opportunity ahead of the regular season.

David Kampf to replace Scott Laughton

One of those players just so happens to be a center who has been stuck on the trading block for a while now. Of course, we are talking about David Kampf.
For the most part, it has felt like Kampf's time with the Leafs has been coming to an end. However, it seems like the Laughton injury has saved him.
In fact, at practice this morning, the forward was wearing a regular jersey, which indicates that he will be in the team's lineup for the foreseeable future.
Ultimately, this is great news for David Kampf, but bad news for guys like Calle Jarnkrok and Nick Robertson, who remain on the outside looking in.
At the end of the day, these kinds of hard decisions have to be made, and the Leafs are doing the right thing by giving David Kampf a shot.
Either way, we are sad to hear about Laughton, and we wish a speedy recovery during this difficult time.
