Toronto Maple Leafs forward Bobby McMann is likely to be traded at the deadline, and as it turns out, the Leafs may not get what they wanted for him.
Bobby McMann is a player who the Toronto Maple Leafs are very attached to, especially when you consider his production this season.
He has 32 points in 56 games, and is on pace for the biggest season of his career. McMann doesn't make a lot of money, and he is an attractive rental going into the trade deadline.
As a result, there have been all sorts of rumors surrounding the Maple Leafs star, with some claiming that he is likely to go to the Edmonton Oilers.
Others believe that McMann is going to elicit a first-round draft pick, as well as a roster player. This a lofty belief, but it's easy to see why Leafs fans would be hopeful.
Bobby McMann and the Maple Leafs face reality
Unfortunately, for the Leafs, a new report from James Mirtle suggests that a first-round pick is a bit of a pipe dream.
Instead, it is likely that the Leafs will get two second-round picks, which is what the Vancouver Canucks got for Kiefer Sherwood.
The Leafs are hoping for a first in return here, but Bobby McMann may top out at two seconds the way Kiefer Sherwood did last month
The Maple Leafs will have to think long and hard before making this kind of move, as there is a lot at stake going into the end of the season.
Having said that, it does feel as though the Maple Leafs are having the right conversations as the trade deadline is on the horizon.
Whether or not McMann is traded is something that will be revealed in due time.
