Today, the Toronto Maple Leafs got destroyed by the Colorado Avalanche, and when Brock Nelson scored a hat trick, the hats came falling down.
Going into this afternoon's game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Colorado Avalanche, there was this hope that the team would be able to come through with a big performance.
In the end, the complete opposite happened, with the Leafs losing by a score of 4-0 in the most embarrassing way possible.
Now, the team remains five points out of a playoff spot, and their Wild Card aspirations are beginning to look increasingly hopeless.
Having said that, the fans are starting to get upset with what they are seeing, and they are showing this displeasure in hilarious ways.
Maple Leafs fans showcase their frustration
Today, the Maple Leafs ended up giving up a hat trick to Brock Nelson, a player the Leafs were actually interested in last season.
As soon as the hat trick happened, Maple Leafs fans let the hats fly, which was seen as a sarcastic gesture against their own team.
Ultimately, this was just a bad game from the Leafs, and it could not have come at a worse time, all things considered.
This is the kind of thing that Leafs fans should rightfully be upset about. You can't allow teams like the Avalanche to just walk all over you like that.
Even though the Avalanche are a good team, you would think the Leafs could put together a much better effort than whatever this was.
Going forward, the Maple Leafs are in a huge hole, and it is only going to get worse if they keep losing winnable games.
