Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi is currently on the hot seat, and with Brad Treliving looking to make a move, the trade rumors are starting to grow.
Max Domi had a rough start to the NHL season, and it led to him bouncing around the Toronto Maple Leafs' lineup. He's gone from the first line, all the way to being a healthy scratch.
In 31 games, he has 12 points and a -12 rating. Interestingly enough, his stats were a lot worse than this at the start of the season.
However, it is clear that Domi is not playing well enough. He makes $3.75 million per season, and the Leafs are expecting a lot more from him.
Throughout his struggles, there have been all sorts of rumors about Domi's status within the franchise and whether or not the Leafs would want to move him.
Toronto Maple Leafs interested in trading Max Domi
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, Domi is still very much on the trading block, and the Leafs are eager to "dangle" him.
This is especially interesting given the reports that the Leafs are looking to acquire guys like Rasmus Andersson and Dougie Hamilton.
Domi is someone who had tremendous value a few seasons ago, but now, the case for the forward isn't as great given his poor numbers.
Can the Maple Leafs trade Max Domi
Very few teams would actively seek out Domi, given the fact that he makes almost $4 million per season and only had eight goals and 33 points last season.
He appears to be on a steady decline, and it is hard to imagine a world in which he starts producing at a high clip all of a sudden.
This is a situation that Leafs general manager Brad Treliving will have a hard time navigating, but at this point, he has no choice.
