Mitch Marner met with a shower of boos as Toronto Maple Leafs fans show no mercy

Mitch Marner is back at Scotiabank Arena tonight for the first time since leaving the Toronto Maple Leafs, and as you can imagine, fans aren't happy.
Toronto Maple Leafs fans were chomping at the bit this morning as they knew the stakes were high with the Las Vegas Golden Knights rolling into town.
This wasMitch Marner's return to Toronto and by extension, the Scotiabank Arena. It's an important game for the Leafs in the standings, but the Marner angle certainly raises the stakes.
So far, the Leafs are not rising to the occasion, as they are currently down by a score of 2-0 in the first period of action.
However, many were paying attention before the game to see what kind of reception Mitch Marner would receive from the Leafs faithful.
Maple Leafs fans let their feelings be known
As you can imagine, the reception was not particularly positive. As soon as the forward got on the ice for warm-ups, he was met with a shower of boos.
Leafs fans showed no mercy, but at the same time, they were respectful. No one threw their jersey on the ice, and no one said anything egregious.
Instead, everyone appeared to be on their best behavior, and it was a classy showing from a very passionate fanbase.
If the Toronto Maple Leafs can get it together in the second period, then perhaps the Leafs fans will have something to cheer for.
Until then, the team is not looking great right now, and the fans are rightfully upset with the poor effort throughout the first period.
Only time will tell whether or not Marner will be leaving his old barn with a loss.
