The Toronto Maple Leafs have some emerging forwards right now, and one of them is due for a contract negotiation heading into the summer.
Bobby McMann is a forward who came out of nowhere for the Toronto Maple Leafs, although there is no denying that the fanbase is glad he's here.
McMann is having a career year with the Maple Leafs and has 24 points in 46 games, which makes him one of the team's most productive players.
Of course, there is still a lot of work to be done for McMann. At 29 years old, there is still a lot for him to prove, especially when you consider where he was a few years ago.
Having said that, his contract expires this Summer, and there has been all sorts of speculation about what the Maple Leafs are going to do, going forward.
The Toronto Maple Leafs want to bring back Bobby McMann
According to Darren Dreger, the answer is very clear. The Maple Leafs have already begun contract negotiations, which proves they want to keep the man employed.
This is great news for all of the Maple Leafs fans out there who have grown to love McMann over the past few years.
With that being said, McMann is not going to come cheap, and the Leafs are going to have to be aware of that going forward here.
Some analysts believe McMann is worth up to $4 million per season. The salary cap is going up, so the Maple Leafs should be able to afford it.
Regardless, this is going to be an interesting negotiation for the Maple Leafs, who will have to prove to McMann that they are contenders going forward.
McMann has clearly passed the audition. Now, the Leafs need to come through and pay up.
