Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Troy Stecher is looking to make an impact with his new team, although the Edmonton Oilers remain on his mind right now.

Troy Stecher was on waivers this weekend as the Edmonton Oilers decided that they no longer needed his services. Thankfully, the defenseman was in high demand.
He is a right-handed defenseman who can move the puck around, which is exactly what the Leafs have been in desperate need of as of late.
As a result, on Saturday afternoon, the Leafs made things official and claimed Stecher off waivers. On Tuesday night, the defenseman made his Leafs debut.

Troy Stecher says the truth about the Edmonton Oilers

Prior to the game, Stecher got to speak with Mike Johnson of TSN. During their conversation, Johnson told Stecher that he was entering the fire.
However, Stecher had a much different perspective. As he told Johnson, the fire was actually in Edmonton, and Toronto was the perfect change of pace and scenery.
Troy Stecher told me 'he just left the fire.'
When you consider how the Maple Leafs went into last night's game with a five-game losing streak, you realize how much weight Stecher's words actually have.
The Edmonton Oilers currently have a record of 9-8-4, which isn't much better than the Leafs, who are 9-9-2. Moreover, the expectations for the Oilers are much grander.
Going into last night's game, Stecher had just six starts with the Oilers this season. On Tuesday, head coach Craig Berube had Stecher on the ice for over 13 minutes, which showcases a lot of trust.
Clearly, the Leafs are happy with their new acquisition, and it will be interesting to see what they do with Stecher next.
