Tonight's game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Edmonton Oilers is an important one as both teams are fighting for scraps in their respective divisions.
While the Leafs appear to be on the up and up, injuries have left this team in a tough spot, and with an illness going around the locker room, there is a lot of uncertainty.
On Thursday night, defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson got injured against the San Jose Sharks, and it looked pretty bad, to the point where fans thought he would be gone for a while.
Yesterday, the unthinkable was revealed as there were reports that OEL would actually be in contention to play on Saturday night.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson makes miraculous recovery
This morning, it was confirmed by reporter David Alter that Ekman-Larsson would, in fact, be in the Maple Leafs lineup tonight against the Oilers.
Considering where Ekman-Larsson was just a few days ago, this feels like a miraculous turnaround for the defenseman, and the Leafs could not be any luckier.
The Maple Leafs are going to need all the help they can get, especially if guys like William Nylander and Dakota Joshua end up missing the game due to illness.
At the end of the day, the Toronto Maple Leafs have dealt with injuries enough this season, and for fans, it has been difficult to keep up with.
However, with Ekman-Larsson pushing through, perhaps this is going to inspire the team to put in a Herculean effort tonight.
No matter what, both teams are going to be eager to get this one going, and we are excited to see how it all plays out.
