Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood has been on the trading block as of late, and a recent report confirms that his trade value has gone down the tubes.
The Vancouver Canucks are a team that has made it crystal clear they have no desire to actually compete for a playoff spot this season.
They traded away their captain, Quinn Hughes, and now, there are other players whom the team is looking to do away with.
He has 16 goals and 20 points this season, making him someone who could prove to be the perfect rental, especially for playoff teams in need of depth.
The Maple Leafs can afford Kiefer Sherwood
According to Frank Seravalli, the trade value of Sherwood has tanked in recent months, as he was previously on pace to fetch a first-round pick.
Now, it is believed that Sherwood is only going to bring back a seond round pick, which just goes to show that he is affordable for most teams, including the Toronto Maple Leafs.
It's probably right in that range of a 2nd round pick plus I think at this moment in time
The Maple Leafs are on a bit of a run right now, and they are going to be looking to add come March, especially if they find themselves back near the top of the Atlantic Division standings.
A player like Sherwood would give this team some tremendous depth, and some goal-scoring, which is incredibly important for the middle-six.
Of course, if the Leafs start losing grasp on the postseason, then it is a moot point. Until then, they might just have a case to do something bold.
