Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll is having himself a nice start to the 2025-26 season, but head coach Craig Berube is going to have to tread lightly.
Joseph Woll's blistering start to the NHL season has been fun to watch, especially when you consider how he missed all of training camp.
In three games, he has a goals-against average of 2.57 and a save percentage of .923. He has played the last three games and has arguably been the team's best player.
Of course, Stolarz suffered his injury because the Leafs were playing him too much. They had no confidence in their backup, and as a result, Stolarz worked himself into an injury.
Now, head coach Craig Berube is at risk of putting Joseph Woll into the exact same situation. We say this because, according to Mark Masters, Woll is projected to start on Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens.
This would be Woll's fourth start in a row. Just like Stolarz, he is an injury-prone netminder. With that in mind, refusing to give him nights off could lead to an injury, which would be a huge issue for the Leafs.
For now, we still do not know when Stolarz will be returning to the lineup. That means Berube needs to manage his goaltenders properly.
If he can't do that, then the Leafs may find themselves in a very bad situation going forward. Two starters injured would be catastrophic.
Hopefully, Woll is able to handle this workload while keeping up his sensational play. Unfortunately, it does feel like the team is asking too much of him.
