With the Toronto Maple Leafs struggling in the early going of the NHL regular season, it seems clear that the team is going to have to sell at the deadline.

If you are a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, then you are probably very upset with how the team has been playing so far this season.
The team just defeated the St. Louis Blues, but it certainly wasn't the most convincing victory. The score was 3-2, and if it weren't for William Nylander's heroics, the Leafs would be in major trouble.
Having said that, there is a sense that this team needs to improve to have any shot at making it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Right now, the Leafs are far from achieving that goal.

Will the Toronto Maple Leafs be buyers or sellers?

According to Travis Yost of TSN, the Maple Leafs' odds of making the playoffs are actually quite slim right now, and they are nowhere near being contenders.
With that in mind, the analyst seems to think that dark days are ahead for general manager Brad Treliving, who is going to have to make a tough decision at the trade deadline.
This Toronto team is being played off the ice at a rate we haven't seen in a long time, and unless they can pull themselves out of this tailspin, general manager Brad Treliving and Toronto's front office are going to have an awkward lead-in to the March trade deadline.
In fact, Yost suggests that the Leafs could end up being sellers. For years, they have been buyers, but that doesn't really make much sense anymore.
For the first time in a long time, their playoff prospects are up for debate - oddsmakers have it priced at a coin flip right now.

This would be a hard pill to swallow for any fan, but at the end of the day, Treliving needs to do what is best, and what is right for his franchise. '
Losing Mitch Marner proved to be the downfall of this team, and it remains to be seen if the Leafs can get this season back on the rails.
