David Kampf and the Toronto Maple Leafs have been working on a solution to their ongoing problems, and on Thursday, both sides finally threw their hands in the air.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Kampf has been trying to get out of his deal. After being demoted to the AHL, he clearly wasn't happy and figured it would be best to just go elsewhere.
Over the past week or so, the Leafs have been working on a trade. Unfortunately, that has proven to be impossible as teams don't want to take on Kampf's contract.
This morning, both sides decided that in order to move on, a contract termination is the only way to go. According to Darren Dreger, Kampf will be put on waivers. If he clears, he can sign wherever he wants.
Expect David Kampf to be placed on waivers today for purpose of termination of contract. So, if he clears waivers tomorrow he can sign with another NHL club.
It is very unlikely that a team would claim him off waivers when you consider how he is making too much money for his current level of production.
However, that doesn't mean his NHL career is over. He can now reset his market and sign with a team that actually needs him.

Where will David Kampf sign

Once he clears waivers, one team that could be the perfect fit for Kampf is the Montreal Canadiens, who have been begging for some center depth.
The Habs are currently one of the best teams in the Atlantic Division, and there is a chance that they could continue to ascend with Kampf on the roster.
It would also be an interesting destination for the forward, who would have gone three-for-three when it comes to playing for Original Six franchises.
Whatever the case may be, we wish Kampf the best of luck with whatever happens next.
