Saturday night is about to be a big one for the Toronto Maple Leafs as they look to take on the New York Islanders and get one step closer to a playoff spot.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are currently on a two-game winning streak after huge performances against the New Jersey Devils and the Winnipeg Jets.
On Saturday, the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to be playing against the New York Islanders, one of the premier teams in the Metropolitan Division.
It is not going to be an easy game for the Maple Leafs, especially when you consider the strength of the opponent and the mental block of a three-game winning streak on the horizon.
However, the Maple Leafs may have just gotten themselves an unforeseen gift. It comes in the form of an injury to forward Bo Horvat.

Bo Horvat to miss some time

Horvat got injured last night, and it has been revealed that he is going to have to miss some time. While Horvat is still expected to play in the Olympics for Team Canada, this weekend is out of the question.
This is a big blow for the Islanders, especially when you consider how Horvat currently has 33 points in 38 games, as well as 21 goals.
For the Toronto Maple Leafs, this is an advantage that they are going to have to cash in on, given their position in the standings.
They are two points out of a Wild Card spot, and they are finally showing the offensive prowess that we all know they possessed deep down.
Having said that, the Leafs are in a very difficult spot, and winning is no guarantee. They are going to have to keep their feet on the gas.
If Auston Matthews were to put together another hat-trick performance, maybe the Leafs will be able to turn some heads in the New Year.
