Toronto Maple Leafs goaltenders Joseph Woll and Anthony Stolarz are giving the team a bit of a conundrum, and one insider seems to have the solution.

The Toronto Maple Leafs had one of the best goaltending tandems in the National Hockey League last season, although this has not been the case in 2025-26.
Joseph Woll and Anthony Stolarz have not shared the lineup this season. Instead, Anthony Stolarz has had to play with Cayden Primeau, while Woll has played with Dennis Hildeby.
Last night, Woll had a rough outing against the Winnipeg Jets as he let in four goals on 17 shots and was pulled in favor of Hildeby, who got the win in relief.
After the game, Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet spoke about the Leafs' goaltending situation and offered up a solution that some fans are not going to like.

Nick Kypreos drops a bombshell

Just like he said a couple of months ago, the Toronto Maple Leafs would be a lot better off getting rid of either Woll or Stolarz right now, given their value.
They are taking up cap space, and with Dennis Hildeby emerging as a viable backup, it has become clear that the Leafs don't need Stolarz and Woll at the same time.

Quite frankly, the goaltending market is barren right about now. Stuart Skinner has already been traded. If a team could get either Woll or Stolarz, they would pay the big bucks.

Which goalie should the Maple Leafs trade?

If the Maple Leafs had to pick a goalie to trade, it would have to be Anthony Stolarz. He was awful before getting injured. Not to mention, he has been injury-prone his whole career.
Joseph Woll is much younger, and while he has had some growing pains, he is showing himself to be a capable netminder for the future of the franchise.
Simply put, the answer is obvious. Ship out Stolarz and get yourself some roster players for a run into the postseason.
