Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Brandon Carlo has been dealing with an injury for the past couple of games, and it has forced the team to take some action.
If you have been paying attention to the Toronto Maple Leafs this season, then you would know that defenseman Brandon Carlo has been struggling a bit.
While he is a shutdown guy, he has only managed two points, and when it comes to defending his goaltender, he has mostly been soft as tissue paper.
It has been a season to forget for the defenseman, and things got even worse over the weekend as he missed the game against the Chicago Blackhawks due to an injury.
This is all taking place amid rampant trade rumors involving the defenseman. Just yesterday, it was reported that Carlo could be part of a cap dump soon.
Brandon Carlo placed on injured reserve
Well, today, the Carlo situation got even fishier as the Maple Leafs officially placed him on the injury reserve, just one day before a game against the St. Louis Blues.
Now, it is very likely that newly acquired defenseman Troy Stecher will get to play, which is huge news for the Leafs, a team in desperate need of a puck-moving right-handed defenseman.
As for Carlo, we imagine the trade rumors are only going to increase over the coming days and perhaps even weeks.
The nature of the injury is unknown, and the timing of it all feels very suspicious. With that in mind, fans are starting to get annoyed with this saga.
Tomorrow, the Leafs will be entering their game against the Blues in the midst of a five-game losing streak, and as you can imagine, there is a lot of frustration right now.
Whether or no the Leafs are able to quell this frustration, is something that still remains to be seen, although fans will be watching intently.
