Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander spent today's game against the Colorado Avalanche in the press box, and he still managed to make headlines.
William Nylander has been out of the Maple Leafs lineup for a while now due to an injury that has been rearing its ugly head all season.
Today, the Leafs were playing against the Colorado Avalanche, and Nylander was sitting in the press box as his team lost by a score of 4-0.
Somehow, the forward managed to become the big story of the evening, and it happened in perhaps the worst way humanly possible.
William Nylander flips off the cameras
In the tweet below, you can see that Nylander flashed the TSN cameras with a middle finger, all while Chris Tanev and Dakota Joshua watch.
While you may find this humorous, it is anything but. Why? Well, because the NHL has been known to fine and even suspend players for being disrespectful to the media.
This was just another boneheaded move by a Leafs player, and if you're the head coach, Craig Berube, some sort of internal punishment must be handed out.
On Monday, we will have to wait and see whether or not NHL Player Safety decides to act against the Toronto Maple Leafs forward.
Quite frankly, it would not be shocking if they do. There has been an anti-Leafs bias for a while now, and Nylander gave them a reason to react.
At the end of the day, the Leafs could not be scraping the bottom of the barrel more than they already have.
Yet with each passing game, we see the team prove everyone wrong. Things can and will get worse.
