William Nylander gets hit with the ultimate disappointment at the Olympics

Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander is currently in Italy for the Winter Olympics, although Team Sweden has already hit him with a surprising snub.
William Nylander is one of the best Swedish players in the NHL, and it was a given that he would get to play for Sweden at the Olympics.
Those Olympic hopes are set to begin this week, and there is a good chance that Sweden can come away with the gold medal.
They will have to go through Canada and the United States, but for the most part, it is clear that this team will have a realistic chance to medal.
Unfortunately, Nylander has been hit with a snub that he was not made privy to during the 4 Nations Face-Off just last year.
William Nylander snubbed at the Olympics
Nylander is not going to be one of the captains for Team Sweden. Instead, the captain of the team will be Gabriel Landeskog. Meanwhile, the alternates are Victor Hedman and Erik Karlsson.
This is probably for the best. After all, Landeskog was not on the 4 Nations squad last season and deserves to be given this kind of honor.
Whether or not Sweden is going to be able to overcome some of the stronger teams in the tournament still remains to be seen.
Having said that, this is a good team, and there is no denying that William Nylander makes the team a whole lot better.
Not having a letter could be a disappointment for the forward, but it's not something that he should take personally. At the end of the day, Sweden is packed with veterans.
We are just happy for the games to finally begin. The Olympics are always exciting, especially when the NHL players are involved.
