Former NHLer dumped by hometown team in Sweden and he's not happy about it
Despite having a decent season in 2023-23, Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) has decided to part ways with a former NHLer, much to his dismay. The team has announced it will not re-sign 37-year-old Loui Eriksson, even though he told them he wanted to come back.
"Considering how I performed, I'm definitely disappointed," Eriksson told Expressen. "I have been clear on what Frölunda means to me as a player. I would have given 110 percent all the way this year. I accept their decision and wish the team good luck - but that doesn't mean I have to respect the decision."
"It is not my decision."
"I was very motivated for another year - but they wanted to go another way."

Eriksson, who played outside the NHL last year for the first time since the lockout in 2012, scored 11 goals and 19 points in 34 games during the regular season. He added another four goals and seven points in 13 playoff matchups.
Eriksson played for Dallas, Boston, Vancouver, and Arizona throughout his NHL career. He had some very good seasons early on, scoring 70+ points twice with the Stars.
