Vegas Golden Knights Place Defenseman on Trade Block to Make Room for Big Move
It's no secret that Vegas are after an upgrade on their blue line, and now, they're reportedly trying to move veteran Ben Hutton to allow for a blockbuster, with the rumoured Rasmus Andersson pursuit in mind.
The Vegas Golden Knights have been aggressive this off-season already, acquiring Mitch Marner in a blockbuster deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs, while also shipping Nicolas Hague to Nashville in a separate deal.
That hasn't stopped them looking for other deals however, as the team are reportedly pursuing Rasmus Andersson from the Calgary Flames, leading many to believe that a deal could get done this summer.
Now, we've got yet another indication that they're on the verge of making a move, as Insider David Pagnotta has revealed that the team are looking to move 32-year old veteran Ben Hutton, likely to make way for someone like Andersson.
A former fifth-round pick, Hutton has played over 500 games in the NHL thus far, spending the last four seasons with the Golden Knights, despite playing in just 11 a season ago, tallying two assists in that time.
It's unclear what type of value Hutton has and whether or not clearing his salary would even make a difference for Vegas, but with the team needing to clear a spot on the blue line, it makes sense that they'd be aggressive in trading him.
On top of that, the market for a journeyman defenseman likely isn't that big in the NHL these days, but with teams out there ready to take on players for a cheap asset or two, don't be surprised to once again see Vegas somehow get their way in a trade.
