He has his reputation for a reason, and it's well earned. And, if anyone thought Daniel Amesbury was going to change his style after recently being booted from a pro hockey league following several suspensions, think again.
Amesbury, a well-known enforcer and old school goon in the hockey world despite never playing in any of the major pro leagues, was suspended indefinitely from the FPHL in mid-january after repeatedly being punished for constant fighting and questionable plays, made his ECHL debut tonight with the Fort Wayne Komets. Amesbury didn't waste any time, laying a bone-crushing hit on an opponent just 11 seconds into his first shift.
The Komets knew exactly what they were getting when they signed Amesbury, and they seem to be all in. However, the 33-year-old will have to figure out where the line is or risk getting into a situation that ended his FPHL tenure.
