Enforcers are few and far between in today's National Hockey League, once upon a time not so long ago, they were on every bench and with every team.
In a game on March 2nd, 2007, Cam Janssen who was with the New Jersey Devils at the time absolutely obliterated Toronto Maple Leaf fan favourite Tomáš Kaberle, with a hit that was more than a little late. Weeks later on March 20th, former Leaf enforcer Wade Belak made him answer for injuring Kaberle.
However, in the weeks leading up to the retribution filled meeting where Belak and Janssen would square off for nearly 2 and a half minutes, he talks about the threats he received leading up to that game while admitting he knew he had to answer for the hit that was a ‘ little late'
Sometimes I miss this brand of hockey, it doesn't always have to be fights, but just letting someone know that they'll have to answer for injuring one of your teams top players.
