Everyone figured this was coming, and they were right. With the Colorado Avalanche and Seattle Kraken meeting for the first time since an awful injury involving the Avs Artturi Lehkonen, retribution was inevitable.
Less than a week ago, Lehkonen went head first into the boards following a shove by the Kraken's Jamie Oleksiak. Lehkonen will miss significant time.
As soon as the puck dropped last night, Kurtis MacDermid went looking for Oleksiak, and he found him eventually.
The Avs say Lehkonen will be out "weeks" because of the crash into the boards. Colorado coach Jared Bednar said he doesn't believe there was anything intentional on Oleksiak's part. The Avalanche downed the Kraken 5-1.
