Radko Gudas tries to choke Brady Tkachuk
Those familiar with international hockey know without a doubt that with the ability to open the game up by skating on the larger ice surface, the chance of any physicality is far more limited than in the game in North America. But it seems that a circumstance has given a player representing Czechia an opportunity to tow the line and give a new meaning to choking.
Earlier Thursday, as Czechia faced the USA, Czech defenseman Radko Gudas looked to have had enough of USA forward Brady Tkachuk taking liberties with his teammates in front of the Czechia net. Gudas initially grabbed Tkachuk from behind and, in the process, turned him perpendicular to his own body. As Tkachuk has Gudas' hand wrapped around his neck, his neck is bent backwards. Than as if he wasn't accosted, Tkachuk turned around and began to wrestle with his opponent.
Much like in this case, Czechia got the better of the Americans during the game behind a strong outing from goaltender Lukas Dostal. While that may seem mundane, the home crowd in Prague was ecstatic to be able to cheer their home country to victory.
The Czechs will be going for gold for the first time since 2010, while the American drought climbs to an astonishing ninety-two years.
