Player Hurts Himself Attempting Pointless Reserve Hit at End of Game
Jackson Blake of the North Dakota Fighting Hawks learned a lesson the hard way after hurting himself badly while attempting a completely pointless reverse hit.
Blake and his team were taking on Michigan State in the NCAA Maryland Heights Regional Semi-Final. Blake and the Fighting Hawks were losing 4-3 with seconds left in the third period, with a loose puck headed towards centre ice. Blake and an opponent were both trying to get to it. Blake stops and decides to hit the other player instead of going for the puck, with the game pretty much over. It didn't go the way he had hoped.
Blake is a 20-year-old forward who was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the fourth round (109th overall) in 2021. He's spent the past two seasons with University of North Dakota
