Minnesota Wild goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury is in the twilight of his career in the National Hockey League and has revealed which team he'd play for next season, or else he'll hang up the skates.

In a recent interview, Fleury said that if he is to play in the National Hockey League next season, it will be with the Minnesota Wild. But if he isn't offered a new contract with the team, which is a possibility given the Wild having one of the best goaltending prospects in the world in Jesper Wallstedt, then he'll likely announce his retirement.

"Yeah, it's probably Minnesota or retirement. I wouldn't want to move and take my three kids out of their environment. They've moved enough already. I don't want to uproot them. My girls have their school, their friends and their sports in Minnesota. And my wife, Veronique, is also happy here." Fleury said.

Fleury, 39, is in his second full season and third in total with the Minnesota Wild after being dealt to them by the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2021-22 campaign. In 36 games this season, Fleury has a record of 16-12-5 with a 2.85 goals against average, an .899 save percentage and two shutouts. He's set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.

It'll be interesting to see what the Minnesota Wild will do this summer with their goaltending situation. As mentioned, they have one of the top goaltending prospects in all of hockey in Jesper Wallstedt, who will be ready to be on an NHL roster full-time at some point during the 2024-25 season. The Wild also have 25-year-old Filip Gustavsson, who has two years remaining on his deal beyond the current season. If Fleury is to return to the Wild next season, it will be in a similar role he's in this year, possibly playing around 30-35 games.
