3 more players sign professional tryouts ahead of next season
With training camps set to begin in the next 10 days, many free agents are looking to find their new homes ahead of next week. With rosters quickly filling up and most teams already above the salary cap, spots on rosters are right. But today 3 additional players were able to find spots for next year.
The following players have been signed to professional tryouts (PTO) today.
#Arizona - Christopher Gibson (G)
#LAKings - Nate Thompson (F)
#Seattle - Daniel Sprong (F) Christopher Gibson spent last year with the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL where he went 7-5-2 in 15 games. Gibson's last NHL game with with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2021. Gibson has only played 16 NHL games, but could be provided a good opportunity to play in Arizona.
Nate Thompson is a veteran of 844 NHL games, but the 37-year-old was yet to find a team before signing the PTO with the Los Angeles Kings. Last season Thompson played with the Philadelphia Flyers, but he only put up 3 points in 33 games.
Sprong is a former 2nd round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins, but the 25-year-old hasn't been able to find a home with an NHL franchise. Sprong has already played for 4 different teams most recently for the Seattle Kraken. Last season between Washington and Seattle, Sprong had 14 goals and 6 assists in 63 games.
