Alberta rocked by 5 earthquakes in the past 4 hours
Residents in Alberta got a little bit more than they expected today as cities across the province felt the shaking of multiple earthquakes. According to the United States Geological Survey the first earthquake struck around 4:51 local time and registered as a 4.6 on the Richter scale.
But for residents that wasn't the only earthquake a larger 5.3 earthquake followed at 5:55 local time. This has been followed by at least 3 after shocks measuring over 4.0 on the scales as well.
The earthquake has since been adjusted to register as a 5.8 which would be the strongest earthquake ever registered in the province of Alberta.
Earthquakes Canada reports a Magnitude 5.2 earthquake located near Peace River at 4:45 p.m., no injuries or damage reported. Regional Emergency Services is monitoring the situation and there is no danger to the public.
