Austrian player ejected for dangerous boarding penalty
The World Juniors has already seen multiple ejections at this year's tournament. Today was no different, as an Austrian forward had been ejected for boarding another player from behind.
With the game tied at 2 in the 3rd period, Austrian Lorenz Lindner was called for boarding with less than 5 minutes remaining. The call sent the Suisse to a 5 minute powerplay with the game on the line. The Suisse went on to score the game winning goal on the powerplay while Lindner was ejected.
Kids today are being taught to have both hands on their sticks and this is a pure example of what that leads to. In the previous allowed rule, defenders were allowed to ride forwards into the boards to protect them.
