We are exactly a week away from most NHL camps opening, but there are surprisingly still some really good free agents on the board. I guess a flat cap will do that to teams (I'm looking at you, Gary). However, with teams in a bind and players taking a little less, that's a recipe to get some remaking free agents off the board, especially if you're in the market for grinders.
According to Sportsnet, the Ottawa Senators have reached an agreement with forward Tyler Motte to play in the nations capitol next season.
The deal is 1 year and carries a cap hit of 1.35 million.
Motte, 27, played in 58 games last season split between the Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers scoring 7 goals and adding 8 assists for 15 points.
As a good forechecker with decent speed and a little bit of an offensive touch, Motte is a sneakily good add to a Sens team that already had arguably one of their better off-seasons in franchise history.
