Canadian Celebrity looking to potentially buy the Ottawa Senators
It was reported earlier this week that the Melnyk Family had contracted a sports marketing firm to help them sell the Ottawa Senators. This sale doesn't come as a surprise, many felt after Eugene Melnyk's passing earlier this year that his daughters would look to go this route. During their time at the helm of the team they were able to re-establish fan trust, increase ticket sales and set the framework for a new arena deal.
Now it appears that Canadian actor, Ryan Reynolds has emerged as a potential owner. According to multiple sources Reynolds would like to purchase the team and have them remain in the Ottawa market.
Reynolds is currently the owner of the Wrexham AFC and has the sports management and financial backing needed to close the deal. A potential deal could cost in upwards of a billion dollars and will come with some significant challenges. But anyone who is able to secure the deal and get a new arena deal completed would likely do very well for themselves.
