Edmonton Oilers goalie reaches decision on future, decides to leave the NHL

The Edmonton Oilers goalie situation was their biggest issue this season and it ultimately ended up costing the team in the Conference Finals against the Avalanche. Now as the season ends Mikko Koskinen is an unrestricted free agent and Mike Smith is contemplating retirement.

According to reports out of Switzerland though it appears Mikko Koskinen may have made decisions about his own future.

Since the season ended Koskinen had been a rumoured target of the Toronto Maple Leafs but it now appears he's opted to leave North America. Koskinen, 33, is a Finland native just completed the final year of a deal paying him $4,500,000 per season.

It was highly unlikely Koskinen was going to return to the Oilers, but he was expected to at least receive some NHL interest from teams.
