When Evander Kane received a 1-game suspension for his hit on Nazem Kadri, many felt it was an extremely light punishment. One fan base in particular has a real issue with the hit. New York Rangers' fans immediately pointed out the double standard of player safety after a video of Sidney Crosby surfaced.
On the play Crosby received neither a major penalty or a suspension for the hit. This hit clearly opens up the debate on NHL Player Safety and even more about George Parros ability to properly manage the department.
The NHL has drawn criticism for only policing injuries and not actions. Is this another example of that? Was Kane only suspended due to Kadri's injury? Or does Parros just have different standards for players like Crosby?
