Former 2nd round pick calls it a career at just 25-years-old
The NHL is the toughest league in the world to play in, so for some just being drafted is their dream come true. But being drafted is just the first step of many. When Brendan Guhle was drafted in the 2nd round by the Sabres he had huge aspirations.
Unfortunately now the former 2nd round pick is calling it a career due to what he's calling personal reasons.
Guhle was playing with the DEL's Berlin Polar Bears this season. He has played seven games before returning to North America.
Drafted 51st overall in the 2015 draft by the Buffalo Sabres. He was traded along with a first round pick to the Anaheim Ducks for defenceman Brandon Montour at the 2019 trade deadline.
Since the trade, he primarily played for San Diego in the AHL and played 42 games with Anaheim. Injuries derailed his progress with both the Sabres and Ducks organizations. He had three goals and four assists in 37 games with San Diego last season and did not register a point in six NHL games.
